It's not unusual for jewellery maisons to have an emblematic creature to represent their spirit and heritage, but it's not every day that a historic jeweller has a resident Feline as a pet, and a continued source of inspiration

Once upon a time, in the 1970s, French jeweller Boucheron had a resident cat. His name was Wladimir, and he lived in one of the world’s prestigious addresses in Paris — 26 Place Vendôme. This black cat with bright yellow eyes had been adopted by Gerard Boucheron, one of the two sons of Parisian master jeweller Frederic Boucheron.

Wladimir was first catapulted to fame when he was photographed for Boucheron’s advertising campaigns in the 1980s, wearing elaborate necklaces with diamonds and other jewels or cavorting playfully with watches.
