Cosmo Ed Nandini Bhalla caught up with the witty and never-not charming Twinkle Khanna, aka Mrs Funnybones, to chat about her new book Pyjamas Are Forgiving, women whove helped her along the way, and why shes not a people pleaser.
Cosmo: Tell us about your new book, Pyjamas Are Forgiving...
Twinkle Khanna: “It’s about a middle-aged woman who goes to an Ayurvedic spa to cure her insomnia, and bumps into her ex-husband and his young wife. The book explores how the world looks at a woman who’s successful but unmarried, and does not have a child. It’s also about the way she looks at herself—whether with a professional achievement, and perhaps not a personal one, is she still adequate? The book also delves into the unexplored world of Ayurveda and how it segregates people into their doshas. It also tries to understand what happens when you displace people. When you take someone out of their comfort zone and put them into a confined environment, for example in Bigg Boss or The Survivor. ..friendships are made, people get intimate, and emotions flare up. That’s something I thought I could play with.”
C: Has this book been inspired by some friend’s story or something you’ve witnessed? And have you got your doshas checked?
