As I set foot in the Mall at Bay Plaza in the Bronx, New York, my sneakers were soaked through to my socks from an angry rainstorm. I made my way into the Ulta store, squeaking a trail of water with each step. And there she was, 22-year old model Halima Aden, looking as if she’d stepped right off the set of a glossy fashion editorial—or at the very least had an ability to walk between raindrops. (In fact, the UNICEF ambassador had just come from a Forbes event that morning.) She was wearing spindly high heels, a long, swishing dress, and a silver hijab, its loose end spilling over her right shoulder like a long braid.
