Jessica Simpson lost 45kg after her third baby through sheer hard work and determination. Here's how she did it

THROW AWAY THE SCALES

SOME people bounce back from pregnancy like the proverbial rubber ball, slipping into their slinky jeans before you can say, "Didn't you just have a baby?" Most of us, however, have to stick to our preggie stretch pants and baggy T-shirts for a while - and it isn't only non-celebs who battle the stubborn baby bulge either.

Just ask Jessica Simpson. The mom of three recently posted pictures of herself looking svelte in a swimsuit, all toned limbs, and long, tousled hair - but anyone who follows the 41-year-old singer and actress-turned-fashion mogul will know she's struggled with her weight after her three babies. And she's opened up about how she's shed a whopping 45kg three times during mommyhood.

After giving birth to her last child, Birdie Mae, in March 2019, Jessica - who is 1,6 m tall - tipped the scales at 110kg and she vowed to take herself in hand once and for all. Slowly, steadily and sensibly so it stayed off for good.

"I call it determined patience, she told ETonline. "I believe in setting small goals for yourself because in my life there's easy ways to throw in the towel and just feel like it's impossible. So the small goals for me are what helped me achieve the main goal."

Although she posted a picture of herself in a swimsuit to show off her trimmed-down self, she maintains that "being in a bikini was never my main goal".

"But when I put that two-piece on, I got super emotional and I was like, 'I did this, it happened'. So it was just like in the moment and I wanted to share it with everyone because I was very proud of myself for doing what at times felt completely impossible."
