DANNY BOY
Wednesday, 9pm BBC2 Drama
On 14 May 2004, British forces were involved in one of the most fiercely fought engagements of the Iraq War when they won a famous victory against a group of insurgents at the Battle of Danny Boy.
Sergeant Brian Wood of the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment received the Military Cross for his gallantry during the battle, only to be charged with war crimes in the years that followed.
Now, Brian’s tale is told in a feature-length film taking viewers from the battlefield in Iraq to the courtroom, to show what really happened on that fateful day in 2004.
