Gary Windass may be taking prison life in his stride, but that’s not the case for his fellow inmate and neighbour Johnny Connor, who’s twice his age and suffering from MS. And when another prisoner takes his own life this week, the tragic incident sends Johnny spiralling.
Shortly before his death, the prisoner in question, Joe, asks Johnny for a game of pool. Johnny bats him away, and feels awful when Gary later informs him that Joe took a fatal overdose; realising, in hindsight, that the request for a game was a cry for help.
