The chance to carve out a new life in sunny climes may seem like a glorious dream, but the reality proves much more challenging in The Mosquito Coast, a seven-part thriller launching on Apple TV+ this week.

Based on Paul Theroux’s acclaimed 1981 novel and made into a 1986 film with Harrison Ford, the series has been adapted by Luther writer Neil Cross. It stars Paul’s nephew, American actor Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) as idealistic inventor and family man Allie Fox.

He and his wife Margot, played by Melissa George (The Good Wife), and children Dina (Logan Polish) and Charlie (Gabriel Bateman) are living under the radar in California, after a mysterious incident years before.

But when Allie discovers that government officials are closing in on them, the family try to cross the border into Mexico in a bid to reach the Mosquito Coast in Central America. However, pursuing detectives, enigmatic gangsters, and the difficult terrain soon create big problems for them.

TV Times joined Justin, 49, and Melissa, 44, for a video chat to find out more…
