HOLLYOAKS

MONDAY-FRIDAY / C4 / 6.30PM / SOAP

Almost two years after her emotional exit from Coronation Street as cancer-stricken mum Sinead, actor Katie McGlynn is back in soapland.

Katie, who turns 28 on 16 July, has joined Hollyoaks as Becky, a single mum with an agenda who strikes up a friendship with OCD sufferer Diane.

Here, Katie talks about moving from Weatherfield to Chester, and why Becky is bound to ruffle feathers...

How did the role come about?

Lucy Allan joined as Hollyoaks’ new product and wanted me to have a look at the scripts for Becky. She gave me one of my first jobs at Waterloo Road and took me under her wing. I read for the part, and she said, ‘It’s yours if you want it.’ I thought, ‘Why not?’ I get to work again and do the job I love.

Did you have any worries about doing another soap?
