HOW I MET YOUR FATHER

NEW FROM WEDNESDAY 11 MAY, STAR ON DISNEY+ COMEDY

The course of true love never runs smoothly, as a spirited New York photographer discovers when she embarks on a quest to find a soulmate in Star on Disney+ sitcom How I Met Your Father.

A much-anticipated spin-off series from hit American comedy How I Met Your Mother, the 10-parter is set in 2022 and follows the adventures of hopeless romantic Sophie (Lizzie McGuire star Hilary Duff) and her close-knit group of friends - Valentina, Charlie, Jesse, Sid and Ellen as they try to find romance in an age of dating apps.

Meanwhile, in 2050, a future Sophie (played by Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall) tells her son how she met his dad, who turned out to be the love of her life.

Along the way, there are special guest appearances by How I Met Your Mother regulars Cobie Smulders, as journalist Robin Scherbatsky, and Kyle MacLachlan, who played The Captain.

Here, Texas-born Hilary, 34, tells TV Times more about what to expect from the new series...

Why did this show appeal to you, Hilary?

It was really attractive to me because the part of Sophie was very relatable. The script's great and the writing is witty [the show's writers include Craig Thomas, who created How I Met Your Mother).

I love that the show's funny and real. I love that we get some tug-on-the-heartstring moments. I also love that New York City is a big part of the show. It helps it move along pretty quickly.

What makes Sophie a special character?
