What would happen if a solar storm hit the UK, knocking out power, paralysing the country’s transport system and putting millions of lives at risk?
That’s the premise of Sky One’s new six-part political thriller COBRA, named after the famous Cabinet Office Briefing Room A meetings at which senior politicians and experts decide on a plan of action during times of national crisis.
At the heart of the discussions is anxious Prime Minister Robert Sutherland (played by The War of the Worlds star Robert Carlyle).
As Robert battles to safeguard the country, he also finds his own position under threat due to a tragic scandal involving his daughter Ellie (newcomer Marisa Abela) and the political ambitions of his wily Home Secretary Archie Glover-Morgan (Killing Eve’s David Haig).
But guiding the PM through the chaos is his loyal Chief of Staff Anna Marshall (The Crown’s Victoria Hamilton).
TV Times visited Robert, 58, on set to find out more…
