Nadiya Hussain on returning to her baking roots

Since winning The Great British Bake Off in 2015, Nadiya Hussain has been a busy bee. As well as writing cookbooks, her autobiography and a children’s novel, the mum-of-three has also made Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday cake, judged Junior Bake Off, hosted The Big Family Cooking Showdown and fronted numerous other culinary shows.

But there’s one surprising omission from this impressive list: Nadiya hasn’t made a TV show or written a book about baking!

That’s now set to change, though, as this week she returns to her first love for a new eight-part series, Nadiya Bakes, on BBC2. In it, she’ll share recipes for her favourite homemade cakes and delicious pastries alongside exciting new ideas inspired by other passionate bakers around the UK.

The first episode is Classic Bakes with a Twist, and the mouth-watering menu includes strawberry-shortcake cupcakes, blueberry-scone pizza and a toadin-the-hole with a spicy Asian kick.
