THE REPAIR SHOP

NEW WEDNESDAY, 8 PM, BBC1 FACTUAL

Prepare to enter a wondrous world of mechanical mastery as The Repair Shop returns to BBC1 for a new prime-time series.

'All I can say to you guys is, get the tissues ready and hold your family's hands because it's going to be an unbelievably magical experience,' says host Jay Blades, who's back welcoming visitors and their broken treasures to the barn, hopeful the show's experts can lovingly restore them.

In this week's opening episode, horologist Steve Fletcher tackles his biggest repair yet - returning a stunning 3m-tall clock to its former glory.

'It proves there's no job too big or too small for the barn,' smiles Jay, who, here, along with woodwork specialist Will Kirk and leather expert Suzie Fletcher, tell TV Times about their stand-out repairs...

JAY

Welcome back, Jay! Tell us, do you ever worry that you'll run out of repairs?

Never. Our show is about love, remembering lost ones, and keeping memories alive through craftsmanship - the world's never going to run out of love!

You say that no job is too big or too small-what's the biggest repair you've ever tackled?

It was on myself-pulling myself out of depression a few years ago. It's a constant work in progress dealing with mental health and staying grounded and making sure you talk to people.

So that's been my biggest job and I'm still working on it.

How about the smallest?

I had a squeaky door in my house that always woke the missus. After two years, I put some olive oil on it and it stopped - that's all it took!

What's been the best day of your career?
