Back in 1990, Tom Hanks teamed up with one of his most memorable co-stars to date – a troublesome French mastiff with a penchant for drooling! – in the comic crime thriller Turner & Hooch.

Now, a 12-part follow-up series, launching on Disney+ this week, sees Josh Peck play San Francisco-based US marshal Scott Turner Jr, the son of Tom’s original cop.

Following his dad’s sudden death, shocked Scott learns that he has been left a special inheritance: another seemingly uncontrollable French mastiff, named Hooch after his adorable predecessor.

The pooch soon proves a loving, loyal companion and a dab hand – or should that be paw?! – at sniffing out clues to help his owner crack cases. But can Hooch also assist Scott and his sister Laura (Desperate Housewives’ Lyndsy Fonseca) uncover the truth behind their father’s mysterious demise?
