THE GREAT CELEBRITY BAKE OFF FOR STAND UP TO CANCER NEW TUESDAY / C4 / 8PM / EP 1 of 5 / COOKERY

Showbiz razzle-dazzle is lighting up the tent of dreams like never before, as 20 more plucky famous faces are digging out their whisks to stand before the gingham altar in C4’s The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.

The five-part series, hosted by Matt Lucas while Noel Fielding was on paternity leave, sees four celebrities in each episode compete to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and take home the prestigious Star Baker apron.

TV Times joined Paul, 55, and Prue, 81, for a video chat to learn more...

Who were you most excited to see?

PAUL James McAvoy, and also Daisy Ridley because I’m a Star Wars fan. When we filmed at Pinewood Studios, she’d go running when she was shooting and often popped in, because she loves Bake Off, so it was nice seeing her. She even taught me how to wield a lightsaber using a rolling pin!

PRUE Alexandra Burke was fun. They had to make a cake of their bugbear and she didn’t like her footballer boyfriend [Alexandra’s former partner, Rotherham United’s Angus MacDonald] getting into bed with his muddy kit on and she did a good Showstopper on it!

PAUL Oh, Alexandra was so bubbly. And Tom Allen was scared about being judged, but he was so funny, especially with Rob Beckett. And Tom kept his jacket on!

What bakes did you enjoy setting them?

PRUE ‘What animal would I be?’ was good – they had to do it as biscuit selfie. And they had to do a bake based on their bucket list.
