TRIGGER POINT NEW SUNDAY / ITV / 9PM / EP 1 of 6 / DRAMA

The death-defying world of bomb-disposal experts is explored in ITV’s new allaction thriller Trigger Point.

The six-part series sees Vicky McClure (Line of Duty) and Adrian Lester (Hustle) play Lana Washington and Joel Nutkins, exmilitary colleagues who now work together as explosives officers – or ‘expos’ – in the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad.

In the middle of a summer heatwave, the dedicated pair are called to a counter-terrorism operation at a London housing estate to investigate a suspected bomb factory. But this is just the start of a terrorist campaign in the capital…

The drama is written by newcomer Daniel Brierley and is produced by his mentor, awardwinning screenwriter Jed Mercurio, who created mega-hits Line of Duty and Bodyguard.

The cast list also includes Mark Stanley (The Girl Before), Warren Brown (Luther), Kerry Godliman (After Life) and Manjinder Virk (Midsomer Murders).

We caught up with Vicky, 38, who was voted your Favourite Actress in the TV Times Awards 2021, and Adrian, 53, to find out more about the series…

Vicky, you’ve worked with Jed Mercurio on Line of Duty since 2012. How did you find being reunited with him for this?

VICKY Jed is a good friend and as soon as he got in touch about this, I was game because I know he’s always going to produce great stuff.

Trigger Point was created by a new writer, Daniel Brierley, whom Jed has mentored, so it’s great to support new talent as well.
