The Handmaid’s Tale
Sunday, C4 HD, 9pm
June was dealt a terrible blow in the last episode of The Handmaid’s Tale when her escape to Canada was thwarted and her plane out of Gilead shot down by government forces while taking off.
This week, we find the rebellious and pregnant handmaid, played by Elisabeth Moss, shackled in the Red Centre basement where Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) makes clear that the only way for her to survive is to repent, leave June behind, and return to Commander Fred and wife Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) as Off red.
When Serena reunites with June, she can barely contain her rage, and is furious with her handmaid for taking flight with ‘her’ unborn child.
