Nicole Kidman stole the show in writer David E Kelley’s glossy US drama Big Little Lies, winning an Emmy for her role as Celeste Wright, an abused wife living among an affluent group of parents in Monterey, California.
This week, Kidman and Kelley are reunited in another polished Sky Atlantic thriller, The Undoing, in which lives are once again thrown into turmoil by lies and betrayal.
The six-part series stars Kidman as New York therapist Grace Fraser. When the drama opens, Grace is leading a picture-perfect life with doting doctor husband Jonathan (Hugh Grant) and talented young son Henry (Noah Jupe).
The family’s world comes crashing down, however, after Grace is introduced to the mysterious Elena (Matilda De Angelis), a struggling artist who latches on to Grace.
The drama escalates when Jonathan goes missing in the wake of violent death and the veneer of Grace’s privileged life falls to pieces, causing her to turn to her wealthy widowed father Franklin, played by Donald Sutherland.
Here, Kidman, 53, explains why The Undoing was a project she couldn’t turn down…
