The stunning scenery of the Scottish Highlands is the evocative setting for ITV’s haunting new six-part crime drama, The Loch, in which a seemingly idyllic rural community is terrorised by a serial killer.

And just as no one knows what lies beneath the waters of nearby Loch Ness, the inhabitants of the town of Lochnefoy don’t know if one of their own is a murderer.

‘The location is a big part of the show,’ says Laura Fraser, who leads the cast as DS Annie Redford. ‘What sets this drama apart is the terrifying thought that a cold-blooded serial killer could be from the community. The monster lurking beneath the surface could be living next door.’

The nightmare begins when the body of a local man is found and a post mortem reveals that he was murdered – and that a sliver of his brain was removed. Meanwhile, the case takes another macabre turn when a human heart washes up on the shores of Loch Ness.

As the case becomes a murder investigation, Glasgow-based DCI Lauren Quigley, played by Happy Valley’s Siobhan Finneran, is brought in to lead the team.
