Halloween wouldn’t be Halloween without a haunted-house horror movie. But nerve-jangling one-off Netflix thriller His House provides a disturbing twist on the classic genre.
Starring Doctor Who and The Crown’s Matt Smith as a stressed-out refugee case worker, the drama follows young married asylum seekers Bol and Rial (Sope Dirisu and Wunmi Mosaku) as they flee Sudan for a new life in England.
Having barely survived their ordeal and mourning the loss of their daughter, who drowned on the perilous journey, the couple are plucked out of their detention center and granted temporary sanctuary in a run-down, filthy house on a bleak estate.
