Clare Balding on her family secret and living the American dream
When Clare Balding was approached to take part in Who Do You Think You Are?, the sports presenter had one particular question that she wanted answered.
She had long suspected that her maternal great-grandfather, MP Sir Malcolm Bullock, was secretly gay. In this week’s programme, she finally discovers the truth about his friendship with celebrated artist Rex Whistler.
‘I was interested in Malcolm because there had always been whispers about him in the family, so it was intriguing,’ says Balding.
