It wasn&#39;t until the finale, &quot;Pyramid,&quot; that viewers realized it was a casket for his beloved mentor, gravel-voiced fan-favorite Mike Franks (Muse Watson). Of course, Gibbs had assumed it would be Franks&#39; terminal cancer that put him in it, not the Port-to-Port Killer, who stabbed Mike outside Gibbs&#39; home in the previous hour, &quot;Swan Song.&quot; Gibbs had called Mike in to consult on the twisty case, which ultimately revealed Lt. Jonas Cobb (chilling guest star Kerr Smith) had been turned into a stone-cold assassin by Operation Frankenstein, a joint mistake between the Navy and the CIA. Going rogue, Cobb targeted servicemen around the globe, knowing his spree would end with him face-to-face with the secretary of the Navy, Phillip Davenport (Jude Ciccolella). In the end, Gibbs and Director Vance (Rocky Carroll) shot and killed Cobb, and SecNav took responsibility for creating the monster (even though the program had been Vance&#39;s idea originally) and resigned.<img src="https://cdn.magzter.com/1429714855/1638547856/articles/4e_-JDk9B1641203003152/u8w-PYbGY1641203112026.jpg" />The five-episode P2P Killer arc is memorable for another reason: flashbacks to how Gibbs met and recruited Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly)! In &ldquo;Baltimore,&quot; a copycat kills Danny Price (guest star Scott Grimes, far left, with Weatherly), Tony&#39;s partner from his days as a homicide detective. Tony and Gibbs deduce that the motive dates back to the intersecting money-laundering and murder cases that brought them together in 2001, when Gibbs-undercover and trying to get himself pinched to gain street cred-was chased by Tony. &quot;The great gift of &#39;Baltimore&#39; was that I got to tackle Mark-given his real-life history (as a UCLA quarterback],&quot; Weatherly says. &quot;Then I turned him over to cuff him and he punched me in the face!&quot;<img src="https://cdn.magzter.com/1429714855/1638547856/articles/4e_-JDk9B1641203003152/jLYeQGm4U1641203093685.jpg" />Harmon smiles between takes while filming a walk-and-talk with Weatherly and David Dayan Fisher (aka one-eyed Frankenstein trainer Trent Kort) in &quot;Swan Song.&quot; Gibbs definitely wasn&#39;t grinning two episodes earlier when he confronted Tony about breaking Rule No. 12: Never date a coworker (Sarah Jane Morris&#39; Special Agent E.J. Barrett, who hadn&#39;t told Tony she&#39;s SecNav&#39;s niece).
