The Framing John DeLorean Star Is One Of The Busiest Guys In Hollywood, But Fatherhood Is His Favorite Role

When Alec Baldwin was recently offered a movie role opposite Jennifer Garner, he knew he wanted in. “I thought, ‘I love Jennifer—she’s a wonderful actress and fantastic movie star,’” he says. “Who wouldn’t want to do that?” But when producers told him the job required a five-week shoot in South Africa, he had to turn it down. “I can’t go to Africa for five weeks, because of my kids,” says the father of five, who, in addition to daughter Ireland, 23, has four young children (Carmen, 5, Rafael, 4, Leonardo, 2, and Romeo, 1) with his wife, Hilaria, 35. “Everything I do and don’t do revolves around my family.” But if he tries to keep overseas travel to a minimum, the 61-yearold actor’s career is hotter than ever—he has a regular gig lampooning President Trump on Saturday Night Live, hosts ABC’s Match Game and recently appeared in both BlacKkKlansman and Mission Impossible: Fallout. This month Baldwin stars in Framing John DeLorean, a movie that fuses documentary footage and scripted scenes featuring Baldwin as the disgraced ’80s auto mogul. The die-hard New Yorker sat down with People to discuss that meaty new role, his hectic home life and what he’s learned after nearly 40 years in the spotlight.
