Anyone at the halfway mark in their career will admit that things aren’t the same as when they began. Rules, norms and entire industries evolve at an ever-increasing speed, much like the changing definition of who is considered an ‘old-timer’.
As a mid-careerist, you may be the most challenged community of all professionals, believes Mumbai-based career coach Ajay Goyal. “You will have to compete with colleagues who are more energetic, technologically-savvy and ready to work at a lower CTC,” he adds. Moreover, women have a tougher climb up, fighting for a place in the boys club, remarks Girija Nair, co-founder of an online career guidance portal, Careerfutura.
