The Ministry of Human Resource’s Development, Government of India under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, has notified the change in the name of the Deemed to be University from “Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara (JSS) University”, Mysore, to “JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru”. It is continuing to be a Deemed to be University with the powers conferred under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956.
The mission of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research is to serve the needs of the community at large. The vision of the Academy is to provide education that helps in transformation of individuals and society and continues to empower health sciences and education through innovative pathways in learning and research.

JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research is accredited by NAAC with Grade A and ranked 35th (2016) and 45th (2017) among the Universities in the country by NIRF, Government of India. It is ranked 1st among young Universities in Karnataka by KSURF. Moving beyond horizon, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research has made a stand in International rating. QS Quacquarelli Symonds Limited has rated JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research for Excellence with 4 stars, making it the first University in Karnataka and third in the country to achieve this Distinction. The Pharm D. programme of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research has been granted with International Certification by Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), USA, and becomes the first among the Universities in the Asia Pacific region to be awarded with such an accreditation.
