Each year over 3-4 lakh students get placed from the 5000-odd campuses in the country, especially in Engineering and B-Schools. We look deeper...
Being placed in a dream company on ‘Day 0’ remains the goal of every student who pursues a professional course, be it BE or MBA. But of the 2 million engineering graduates and half-a-million MBA passouts, not more than 4-5 lakh students get placed on campus. So it is imperative that both institutions and students understand and appreciate what the recruiters look for, who are the biggest recruiters and which companies offer the most exciting jobs. To understand the recruitment process we examined the placement statistics of about 300 top-rated engineering colleges/deemed universities as well as top 200 B-Schools. We tabulated the companies that visited these campuses, their average salary offered and the profiles on offer. The top firms listed out have been categorised into two: the first top ten firms are the biggest in terms of offering jobs. The second category is of firms that offer exciting opportunities (though limited) in a higher job/salary bracket. In addition, for each functional domain we also present the most popular job profiles on offer.
