Jerry Passmore
The Kindly Grocer

I grew up in North Bay, Ont., where my father owned a meat market and grocery store, called Passmore’s Food Market. Tom Passmore was his name.

As a young boy, I can remember being in the store when an old gentleman would come in for his groceries. He was a bit of a hermit and a little scary looking. All we knew was that he lived alone in a one-bedroom log cabin off of O’Brian Street.
