Under The Canopy
Hampshire Life|April 2018

Gardening in shade need not be challenging if you take inspiration from the experts. Leigh Clapp visits the display gardens at Spinners Garden and Nursery in the New Forest and discovers some wonderful woodland perennials

Under The Canopy

WHETHER you have shady spots in the garden caused by a canopy of trees and shrubs or from man-made sources such as the cast from buildings and fences, they offer creative planting opportunities. In summer they are a welcome relief on a hot day and they can be particularly charming in spring with dappled layered planting. You may have areas of partshade under deciduous trees, dense shade under evergreens or areas that are in shade for a part of the day due to aspect.
