Rockefeller Center And Radio City Music Hall
One of New York’s most familiar images is a live shot of Rockefeller Center shown every time NBC program content changes. Most of the year, viewers see the clean-cut limestone buildings and the ring of flags representing United Nations’ members. Over the holidays, the image is dominated by the 95-foot Christmas tree bedecked by 45,000 twinkling lights, and skaters on the ice rink below.
Centrally located between 48th and 51st streets and Fifth and Sixth avenues, Rockefeller Center is populated equally by meandering tourists and purposeful locals on any given day. The complex’s buildings hold restaurants and retail locations at street level, while myriad businesses rent office space on the higher floors.
