Punjab-the home of the gracious Punjabi people and the ever so lively Bangra dance is a land of natural splendor and beauty. Punjab is one of the most fertile regions on Earth!

Punjab is surrounded by Jammu and Kashmir in the north, Himachal Pradesh in the northeast, Haryana in the south and Rajasthan in the southwest.

Capital Chandigarh whose master plan was prepared by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier was one of India’s first planned cities. Today Chandigarh is the second cleanest city in India under Swachh Bharat Survekshan. Chandigarh is also the first smoke-free Indian city!

The state of Punjab in the northwestern region of India was created on 31st October 1966 after it was split from

Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. Punjab is a fertile land watered by the five rivers-Beas, Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum. These five rivers give the state the name of Punjab-‘Panj’ is five in Persian language and ‘ab’ is river.
