Meggy was not feeling particularly happy as she marched to school, with her satchel on her back. There was going to be a function at school in a week’s time and the children were expected to sing or dance on the stage.

‘Meggy, can you sing?’ Ms. Flora had asked her.
‘Of course I can, Miss,’ said Meggy and stood up, ready to sing.
‘Wait!’ cried Ms. Flora as the other children huddled together and giggled. ‘Meggy dear, I think it would be better if you danced. No...No... Not now! You can practice at home and dance on the stage.’
That was what made Meggy sad. She could neither sing nor dance. ‘You have two left feet!’ her mother had smiled when Meggy told her about the teacher’s suggestion. ‘Never mind, we will try to do something.’ Meggy looked down at her feet as she walked to school. Her feet looked quite good to her. She took long steps to watch if her two feet were, as they should be… Left right…left right…
‘Hey, watch where you are going,’ squeaked a voice. ‘The way you are prancing along... anyone would think you’re a dancing pony!’ Meggy stopped short and looked around. She was rather shy to realize that somebody had been watching her on that lonely street. But there was nobody around.
‘Who are you? I can’t see you!’
