What Is The Easy Job?

His wife was an excellent homemaker. They lived happily with their children. As years passed by, the couple got fed up with their routine work.

One day, Ram Dev told Rema Devi, “Rema, I’m fed up with my work in the field. How long has it been doing the same work; there should be some change.”

“Look, I’m not better than you. Early in the morning, I’ve to clean the cowshed, milk the cow, sell the milk, cook food, take care of children....oh! unimaginable,” she exclaimed cursing her plight.

“Ha...ha...ha... all these are silly things! How easy it is to do household work! You can’t imagine my work. Being scorched in the sun and sweating, and there’s hardly any time to rest. But work at home is not at all difficult,” Ram Dev argued.

“So...you are saying the work at the field is harder than the household work. Pathetic!” Rema Devi continued scornfully, “I think you’ve to just sow the seeds and sprinkle some manure on it. And your day ends there, doesn’t it?”

“If you think so, let’s exchange our work with each other. You may go to the field and I’ll take care of the home tomorrow onwards. What do you say about it?” elated Ram Dev asked.

“All right. Agreed hundred fold,” Rema Devi replied readily.

The next day, Rema Devi, with the oxen went to the field. Although it was a tiresome job for her to lead the oxen to the field, the lady somehow managed to reach the field by whipping and scolding.
