Meghan & Harry Did she plan it all along?

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their royal roles in early 2020, Prince Harry explained that it was “never part of the plan” to sign a deal with Netflix. But new evidence suggests that Meghan Markle may have been arranging her big comeback to Hollywood long before Megxit!

On July 14, the former actress, who turns 40 on August 4, announced she was co-creating and producing an animated series for the streaming giant along with David Furnish. The filmmaker, who is the husband of Elton John, is behind hit family films including Gnomeo and Juliet. Their project will feature a young heroine “named Pearl who finds inspiration in influential women from history”.

A source close to Meghan told Page Six the series has been in the works since 2018. “We’re told that Markle and Furnish were in active discussions with Netflix while Markle was still a senior working member of the royal family,” the website reported.

The revelation is in stark contrast to the story the couple told talk show host Oprah Winfrey during their bombshell tell-all interview in March. The 36-year-old prince said he was forced into the deal so he could afford to pay for “security” for his brood after being “cut-off” financially from the royal family.

“During the pandemic, a friend suggested, ‘What about streamers?’” Harry told Winfrey. Meghan added: “We genuinely hadn’t thought about it before.”
