Harry & Meghan's $200 Million Netflix Deal

Five months after officially stepping down as senior members of the British royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have established a path to support themselves financially. Leaving behind the rules, traditions and constraints of life in the monarchy, the pair have committed to a thoroughly modern – and lucrative – deal with streaming giant Netflix.

“Our lives, both independent of each other, and as a couple have allowed us to understand the power of the human spirit,” the couple and parents to son Archie, 16 months, shared in a statement. “Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope. As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens.”

The Sussexes need to start making money, having just splashed $19 million on a sprawling mansion in Montecito, Santa Barbara (right). The couple also announced they have paid back the $4.3 million owing on the renovation costs to Frogmore Cottage, a bill initially footed by the UK taxpayer. The Windsor residence was gifted to them on their wedding day by the Queen.
