GET OUTDOORS!

If the thought of returning to the gym has you reaching for the hand sanitiser, never fear – there are plenty of things you can do outdoors to keep you healthy and active. Summer is a great time to start working on reaching those running milestones (start small with the Couch to 5km Runner app). You could try out a new hiking track, or simply hit the pavement for a walk with your pet pooch or a pal. Not only will you get in a workout, but you’ll also breathe in fresh air, soak up some vitamin D and nab some serious brain benefits – with research showing outdoor workouts can improve enthusiasm and self-esteem, while decreasing tension and depression.

Lockdowns, the closure of gyms and the stress of uncertainty has seen many people put their health and fitness on the backburner in recent times. But if the horror that was 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that your health should always be a top priority!
