The grinches who stole Christmas

Cosmo has his hands full as he tries to plan the ultimate Christmas dinner while Lucy and Mrekza try to ruin it all.
The grinches who stole Christmas

’Tis the time for presents, fruit cake, Mariah Carey jingles and Christmas cheer! But it seems Cosmo’s (Ronnie Nyakale) plans to host the perfect family get-together will be met with little to no cheer – that’s if shebeen queen Lucy (Manaka Ranaka) has her way…

LET’S PARTY!

With a rough year behind them, Cosmos feels a joyous family dinner on Christmas Day would make for the perfect ending to a year many would rather forget. “Cosmo is feeling very appreciative of his family,” explains Ronnie. “He wants them to spend time together, to enjoy family. He wants to celebrate the spirit of togetherness!” Determined to strengthen the family bonds, Cosmo has big plans. “He wants a dinner with lots of food and a choir singing carols! But he struggles to find a venue and asks Lucy if he can host the dinner at her shebeen.” And this is where Cosmo’s festive cheer begins to fade a little.

GRINCH ALERT!

Despite Cosmo’s best efforts, Lucy and hubby Mrekza (Kope Makgae) prove to be the grinches who could very possibly steal Christmas. Whether they succeed in ruining Cosmo’s elaborate festive plans remains to be seen, but one thing is definite: Cosmo won’t give up easily.

Asked why Lucy is so against the idea of a wholesome family gathering, Ronnie says the reason is simple. “She doesn’t believe in Christmas. She thinks it’s a white man’s tradition that’s forced on them. She doesn’t care for it.” It’s just another normal day and she refuses to close her shebeen for the day when there’s good money to be made.
