The Republic
Season 2 Sundays Mzansi Magic (*161) 20:00
As South Africa’s first woman president, Lufuno Mulaudzi (Florence Masebe) never catches a break in the award-winning political suspense drama series The Republic. With high unemployment rates, loadshedding and citizens gradually losing faith in corrupt government officials, Lufuno is met with the tough task of saving her country from destruction.
The worst part is that despite her recent cabinet reshuffle, President Lufuno’s colleagues are conspiring to overthrow her at all costs, especially the newly appointed Minister Of Police MK Mthembu (Bongile Mantsai). “Lufuno has the country’s best interest at heart. She is desperately trying to improve conditions for all South Africans, but those around her have ulterior motives. She doesn’t know who to trust,” explains Florence, whose character spends season 2 uncovering layers of deception in her cabinet that will make for curveballs and plenty of cliffhangers in episodes.
