After a single season, BET Africa’s (*124) original telenovela Isono was cancelled in 2021 for undisclosed reasons. However, that wasn’t entirely the end of the local production as it’s been commissioned to air weekdays on free-to-air network channel e.tv (*194) from Monday 11 April at 20:30.

MEET MOTHER MARY
Set in Vosloorus Township in the east of Johannesburg, Isono follows the dysfunctional Ndlovu family. At the front and centre of this clan is the matriarch Mary (Nthati Moshesh). On the surface, Mary is a churchgoing philanthropist. She’s well-put-together, well-spoken and it’s rare to find her out of her expensive outfits that go with her designer heels and a matching tilted church hat.
