PRINCE ANDREW’S DAUGHTERS, BEATRICE AND EUGENIE, WERE MORTIFIED FOLLOWING HIS WIDELY CONDEMNED INTERVIEW REGARDING SEX OFFENDER JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

SITTING in the Blue Drawing Room of Buckingham Palace for a widely televised interview with journalist Emily Maitlis for the BBC, Prince Andrew aimed to set the record straight on his questionable long-standing friendship with sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein, who died of an apparent suicide in his jail cell this August. But in doing so, the Duke of York, long ago nicknamed “Randy Andy,” dug himself into a deeper hole — with some critics now calling him a “liability” to the royal family following what’s become a media firestorm. The 59-year-old admitted he didn’t regret the friendship, instead calling it “actually very useful.” Among his more bizarre rationalizations: That he bunked at the registered sex offender’s New York City apartment — where Epstein was accused of paying underage girls for sex — because it was “a convenient place to stay.” On Nov. 20, the prince addressed the backlash, calling the friendship “illjudged,” and announced he would “step back from royal duties for the foreseeable future.”
