Christina's BRAVE BATTLE

SHE’S already been through so much. But when Christina Applegate took to Twitter on Aug. 9 to announce that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, she made it clear that she isn’t looking for anyone’s pity. “It’s been a tough road,” she wrote in the lengthy post, in which she also revealed that she has known about having MS for several months. “But as we know, the road keeps going.”

The road of life has been unusually tough for Christina, 49, who battled breast cancer before learning that she has the chronic autoimmune disease, which affects the central nervous system and can be disabling. Still, sources tell Star the actress, currently shooting season three of Dead to Me, has “been a total trouper. Most people didn’t even know she was ill.” As she said in her post, “One of my friends who has MS said ‘we wake up and take the indicated action.’ And that’s what I do.”
