Taking Control Of Her Health Has Changed Laura Wright’s Life — And Given Her A Second Career.

Last spring, Laura Wright was at a crossroads in her life and knew she needed to make a change. “I was really sick a lot,” she recalls. “For six months, I’d feel better and then get sick again. I was still really struggling with the end of my marriage [to John Wright, her spouse of 21 years] — feeling better about it, but probably not really dealing with it. And I thought, ‘I have to do something.’ There was a girl I’d seen a lot on my friends’ [social media] pages, a Beach body coach. I reached out to her and said, ‘I need to make a major change in my life.’ ”

At the coach’s recommendation, Wright started on the 21-Day Fix, a diet and exercise program that she’d actually tried once before, “about three or four years ago; I did it and really didn’t think much about it after that.” This time around, the actress took a different approach — with different results. “My coach had me showing up to a Facebook page to post after-workout pictures and that accountability really got into my head,” she explains. “The workout is only 30 minutes a day and no matter how late I worked, I worked out. If I got home at 8:3 0 or 9 at night, I worked out and posted that picture. If I had to be at work at 6:30, I was up at 5 doing my workout and posting. I was like, ‘This really works!’ Then I thought, ‘Every workout works. So why did this click in differently for my brain?’ And it was the coaching page, the community. I’d always wanted to do some form of life-coaching or helping people, so I contacted my coach and said, ‘Do you think I could coach?’ And she said, ‘Absolutely.’”
