A House Divided, GENERAL HOSPITAL
Soap Opera Digest|February 22, 2021
Some soap secrets are dragged out so long, they lose some of their explosiveness en route to their inevitable reveal. But GH employed the perfect timeline to blow up the truth about Ned and Alexis’s one-night stand — and the on-screen fireworks were dazzling.

Alexis was facing charges for driving under the influence the night she left the Metro Court with Tracy, but she insisted she hadn’t taken the wheel — which, of course, was true; Tracy had dragged her blacked-out drunken passenger into the driver’s seat, then dialed the cops, in a misguided effort to remove Alexis as a threat to her son’s marriage. Olivia couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss, sending her on a fact-finding mission with consequences far greater than she could have imagined.

Cut from the Same Cloth

“Turkey Tracks” is a 19th-century quiltmaking pattern that has the appearance of little wandering feet. Patterns like the tracks, and their traditions and myths, have been passed down through the generations, from their frontier beginnings to today, where a generation of makers has embraced the material as a means of creating something new. Olivia Jondle is one such designer. Here, she’s taken an early turkey track-pattern quilt, cut it into various shapes, and stitched the pieces together, adding calico and other fabric remnants as needed. The result is a trench coat she calls the Pale Calico Coat. Her designs are for sale at The Rusty Bolt, Jondle’s small-batch fashion company based in St. Louis. —SAMANTHA STEVENSON
