Sunny Leone was recently interviewed on national television, and it was a pitiful sight for many. Though the questions were harsh, Sunny answered every question with courage. But the after-effects took its toll on her. She has no qualms about her colourful past and accepts it completely without apology, and you see a different aspect of her persona. She is quirky, vivacious, and blushes like a teen when questioned about her lunch outing with Aamir Khan. Sunny is happy and content that she has come a long way, and wishes to continue her journey in the business of cinema. In an court martial with Shravan Shah, the gorgeous lass speaks honestly, about everything ranging from her social-media bashing, to her love for films, to being an easy target for the media and more.
11 Minutes was a brilliant concept, and you looked stunning. What were your feelings whilst working in it?
I have mentioned often that everybody likes to focus on the negative, and when people come together and do something positive, I would happily do it. Be it raising awareness or spreading positivity. The subject that 11 Minutes dealt with, is particularly close to my heart because my father passed away due to cancer. He was a closet smoker, he didn’t smoke in front of us, but we all knew about it. When he got cancer, his body just couldn’t bear going though surgery and he passed away. Watching this as a child was no fun. I won’t ever encourage young people to smoke, and I want to tell them that if they haven’t started smoking, then DON’T! It’s not worth it, it’s not cool. Even in places like Los Angeles, it is becoming uncool. You cannot smoke anywhere, which I am very happy about. And for those people who do smoke, maybe we can just get them to think about it.
Do you think that as a society, we can appreciate such quirky campaigns?
It depends on the issue. For this particular subject, it was brought to us brilliantly, and shot very well. We shy away from seeing the truth, like they show in the horrible campaigns we’ve seen in the past. We wanted the youngsters to watch the campaign and wanted them to react in a particular way. The entire concept of the ad was to add curiosity, and I think that worked.
After all the brouhaha, Mastizaade came and left in a hurry. What is the feedback you have received for the film?
