THE Oscars has seen it all since the turn of the millennium – starting with THAT kiss and continuing right now in 2020 with whatever drama the most magical awards night of them all conjures up. The year 2000 and the Oscar buzz was all about Angelina Jolie locking lips with someone she really shouldn’t have – not in the way she was doing it, at least! Since then, the Oscars has never failed to serve up some drama or another to go with that annual parade of glitz and glamour. From famous fashion fails to famous faces as red as the famous Oscar night red carpet, the A-list has served up a recent history some stars might rather forget. Here we mark Oscar night 2020 by looking back at the last two decades of the Academy Awards and the most memorable moments of this millennium so far.
2000: THAT KISS!
KICKING off the millennium, Angelina and her older brother, James Haven, made headlines with their inappropriate red carpet snog. Angelina, who was 24 years old at the time, began her acceptance speech on winning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Girl Interrupted with, “I’m in shock and I’m so in love with my brother right now. He just held me and said that he loves me and I know that he’s so happy for me.” Needless to say the incident has gone down as one of the most bizarre red carpet moments in Oscar history.
