‘I WILL NEVER WALK AWAY'

Prince Harry offered one of the most honest insights into his new life in LA when he opened up to long-time showbiz pal James Corden on his late-night talk show.

A year on from the bombshell announcement that he and wife Meghan, 39, would be stepping down from royal duty, Harry explained to James that he didn’t turn his back on the royal family.

“It was never walking away. It was stepping back rather than stepping down. It was a really difficult environment, which I think a lot of people saw. So I did what any father or husband would do and thought, ‘How do I get my family out of here.’ But we never walked away.”

The interview was carried out during a tour of Harry’s new home of LA before it was revealed that the Queen had stripped the Sussexes of their royal patronages. But it appeared as though Harry, 36, knew what was coming as he also said, “My life is public service, so wherever I am in the world it’s going to be the same thing. As far as I’m concerned, whatever decisions are made on that side [in Britain], I will never walk away.” Harry also said that his old life was “destroying his mental health”.

Harry went on to reveal that he and Meghan’s son Archie – who will soon be a big brother – is now talking, and that his first word was “crocodile!”. He also joked that he would like actor Damian Lewis to play him in The Crown! Harry even defended the Netflix drama series, which is often critical of the royal family, saying that it does not “pretend to be the news”.
