Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt talks turning 40, taking to the ice and pushing her limits with hubby Max Rogers by her side
CHLOE ALEXANDROU

Most of us know Kimberly Wyatt as the boundary-pushing, body-popping firecracker from the Pussycat Dolls. And although she’s still determined to smash past her limits, fans can expect to see her in a very different light as she straps on her skates for this year’s Dancing On Ice.

When we caught up with the star, she was still hopeful the Dolls’ delayed world tour would go ahead. But sadly for fans, hopes of a reunion were dashed on 7 January when bandmate Nicole Scherzinger announced that it was cancelled.

Missouri-born Kim may have found fame with her steamy performances as a commercial dancer but model hubby Max Rogers tells new this isn’t the full story. “Kim’s background is in ballet and contemporary,” he says during our exclusive shoot. “On Dancing On Ice, she’ll be able to show a side that people won’t have seen before.”

The couple – who live in Surrey with kids Willow, seven, Maple, four, and Ford Senna, two – are both 40 this year and want a big celebration once Kim is finished with Dancing On Ice. “I’m so excited! 40 feels like a new lease of life,” Kim tells us.

She also admits that she’s “done with having children,” after deciding to have herself sterilised while she gave birth to Senna via a Caesarean section.

She says, “It’s time to start life all over again with my new body and celebrate that. I’m really excited to celebrate my mum body and see what it’s still got!”

Here, Kim and Max fill us in on plans for a star-studded joint 40th birthday bash and open up about how Dancing On Ice has impacted their family…

Hi, both! What made you sign up for Dancing On Ice?

Kim: I was a big fan of Olympic figure skating as a kid. Oksana Baiul, Scott Hamilton and Nancy Kerrigan were my heroes but there was no ice where I grew up, so skating was never an option. The idea of floating around on the ice doing amazing things has always appealed but I’ve been scared to death of being injured. I’m still scared to death of getting injured but here I am. I’m going to give it my best shot!

Why now?

Kim: As a performer, I’m excited to test my body again and push it to its fullest extent. I’m 40 in February and what a brilliant way to bring in 40 – hopefully skating on ice.

Do you have any specific fitness goals during your time on the show?

Kim: I was really focused on the Dolls tour and that gave me motivation, but I lost that after it kept getting pushed back. Also, having a baby on your hip every day pushes your body out of whack. It’s time to start life all over again with my new body and celebrate that. I’m really excited to celebrate my mum body and see what it’s still got!

You mentioned turning 40 and Max is also 40 this year. How are you both feeling about it?

Kim: I’m so excited! I’ve had my three kids and I’m done with having children now. Forty feels like a new lease of life!

Max: Although I’m not one for celebrating, we’ll definitely do something together this year once Kim is finished with Dancing On Ice.

Who’s invited?

Kim: Zoe [Hardman], Ashley [Roberts], Abbey [Clancy] and Pete [Crouch]…
