It’s been a tough time for the comedy industry during the pandemic, with live shows cancelled and comedy clubs closed. But comedian Katherine Ryan is looking forward to finally getting back on the road later this year for her new tour Missus.
“It kicks off in September,” she tells us. “The venues are pretty confident that it will all be alright and they will be open again by then.”
Katherine teases that the audience will see a new side to her after tying the knot with Bobby Kootstra in 2019, as she admits she’s in a “completely different position”.
When she’s not working, the Canadian star tells us that, like most of us, she’s been binge-watching reality shows during the lockdown. She’s also been enjoying some home cooking with her 11-year-old daughter Violet.
Here, Katherine, 37, opens up about how she’s feeling about getting back on stage, married life, and the funniest person on TV…
Hi Katherine! How has the pandemic affected your comedy work?
There are certain programmes we still film, but we just have to do it in a different way, with screens and loads of safety precautions and tests. And then there’s no audience, which is very odd. It just doesn’t work for me without an audience. I can’t wait to start touring properly again.
What can we expect from your Missus tour?
