The shocking operation was detailed in a recently released cache of the CIA’s long-secret John F. Kennedy murder files revealing Mafia bosses Santo Trafficante Jr. and Sam Giancana conspired with a Castro turncoat to slip a deadly nerve agent pill into the dictator’s coffee, tea or broth.
But the traitor, identified in the files as Juan Orta, Castro’s director general of the Office of the Prime Minister, got “cold feet” and never followed through.
