ELMWOOD Park Police Department Chief Mike Foligno risked his own life to pluck a mom, 37, and her two-year-old daughter from certain death after they plunged into New Jersey’s icy Passaic River on a frigid February day. Here the 52-year-old hero shares his chilling tale with The National ENQUIRER.

I was working in my office when I heard the call that two people had fallen through the ice only three quarters of a mile from police headquarters.

As the chief, I rarely go out on calls, but I jumped in my car and drove right over there.
