Dia Mirza & Vaibhav Rekhi
When actor, producer, and environmental activist Dia Mirza and businessman Vaibhav Rekhi decided to give love a second chance, they also decided to break a number of stereotypes with their beautiful garden wedding at the bride’s Bandra home in Mumbai. Dia’s interior design expert mother Deepa Mirza played hostess to the quaint celebrations, which had only around 60 guests in attendance, including celebrity guests such as Aditi Rao Hydari, Jackky Bhagnani, and director Kunal Deshmukh. The fragrances of tuberose, chrysanthemum, and jasmine flowers wafted over the entire venue, including the open mandap and the all-natural setup in the expansive 6,000 sqft garden. The couple chose a female priestess to officiate the rituals of the picturesque affair, quashing an age-old stereotype. For the big day, Dia wore a traditional red Benarasi saree by Raw Mango, and Vaibhav opted for an ivory Raghavendra Rathore outfit.
What we loved: The 39-year-old looked gorgeous on her special day, but what added to her glow was the focus on sustainability—a subject close to her heart—at the wedding. The eco-friendly décor was one of the highlights of the intimate ceremony. The actor and her investment banker beau went completely plastic-free for the occasion and opted for biodegradable alternatives. There were two other, rather sweet, takeaways—Dia got bells placed on every chair for guests to ring during the pheras, and the couple handed personalized notes to every guest to convey the role each played in their lives.
