Researchers utilized a computer-based artificial intelligence system to analyze the health of the tiny blood vessels in their retinas. The tool helped them determine if subjects were &ldquo;fast agers,&rdquo; biologically speaking, and participants were monitored for 11 years.The scientists explain individuals who initially showed a &ldquo;retinal age&rdquo; older than their chronological age displayed an annual 2 percent increase in their risk for death from any cause and a 3 percent jump for specific causes, such as heart disease, dementia or cancer.
